Biography
Richy Spitz, an underground hip hop producer/vocalist based in Herts, England. Richy Spitz started his music career in the late 90’s/ early 00’s as a hip hop M.C but soon moved into production working with local rappers and singers both on backing tracks and vocal collaborations. Richy developed a signature production style, combining a variety of soulful sample based beats with funky synths and live instrumentation. Richy draws influence from a vast spectrum of new and old music alike.
Richy Spitz at this time had developed a local following and was now performing at local events and festivals. From his performance at Rhythms of the World, Richy was invited to appear on various radio stations, from the BBC’s three counties to other pirate and internet radio stations.
Richy soon decided to release various material in the form of an album entitled drunk & disorderly, with few copies pressed amazingly some tracks were picked up on a nationwide mixtape. The 8 Ball mixtape V2, Richy Spitz found himself amongst artists such as Phi Life Cypher and Roots Manuva. Richy Spitz picking up praise on the reviews of the mixtape, earning him further recognition.
Richy Spitz has been performing as the DJ for shows with Si Phili of Phi Life Cypher in London as well as a pre album tour in Czech Republic where they supported Afu Ra. This lead to Richy Spitz working as executive producer on Si-Phili’s first solo album. The album is set to be a break through with Si-Phili swaying from his usual style of dark hip hop. The lead single from the album is to be called “Sunshine” and will be released on August 4th 2008.
Richy Spitz is also currently working on a debut l.p which is set to feature many of the acts he has been working alongside. Its release pencilled for the second quarter of 2010. More information on this debut entitled “Make or Break” will be released later in the year.
